• In 2025, Metro implemented a new system of bus routes, called "Better Bus". The routes have a letter and a number associated with where the bus travels.

The M22 Metrobus runs between Olney and Bethesda. The D96 Metrobus runs along Massachusetts Avenue to Bethesda. The M70 Metrobus operates between Silver Spring Station and the Montgomery Mall Transit Center. Traveling on Old Georgetown Road, Rockville Pike, and East-West Highway, it provides service to the Davis Library, Walter Johnson High School, Medical Center Station and Bethesda Station, and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.

Click here to find a bus route near you or visit our office at 7700 Old Georgetown Road to get these and any other route maps.

Real Time Arrival information is also on Metro's website.

    Bus Stops

Bus stops are clearly marked with new red, white and blue Metrobus signs. Riders are urged to check the destination on the bus before boarding. The route number and destination are displayed above the windshield or on the boarding side of the bus.

    Fares

The base fare for Metrobus is $2.25. Express routes cost $4.80. Special passes are also available. Reduced fares are available for people with disabilities, seniors and customers enrolled in Metro Lift. Seniors and people with disabilities are also eligible for the reduced price 7-Day Regional Bus Pass. Read more at wmata.com/reducedfares.
