• Lane Closures Near Medical Center Station

    Wednesday, September 26, 2018

From the Montgomery County BRAC Coordinator:

This is a reminder for THREE SETS OF UPCOMNG LANE CLOSURES for the Crossing Project at the Medical Center Metro Station:

SUNDAY NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 30:  BETWEEN 9:00 PM SUNDAY THRU 5:00 AM MONDAY:

Weather permitting there will be variable lane closures at all four corners of the intersection of Rockville Pike & Jones Bridge Road.  These closures are necessary so that utility lines can be relocated in advance of vehicular and pedestrian safety improvements at the intersection.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 1 TRHU OCTOBER 5; similar schedule for following two weeks in October:

ONE SOUTHBOUND LANE ON ROCKVILLE PIKE WILL BE CLOSED THE WEEK OF OCT. 1-5, BETWEEN SOUTH DRIVE (NIH) AND WOODMONT AVENUE, Monday thru Friday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weather and work conditions permitting.

THIS DAYTIME, WEEKDAY OFF-PEAK WORK IS EXPECTED TO CONTINNUE FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS.  These lane closures are necessary to reconstruct sidewalks and storm sewers where roadway and pedestrian improvements have been made at the intersection of Rockville Pike at Woodmont Avenue and Center Drive (NIH).

BE PREPARED FOR TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CHANGES FOR APPROX 5-6 WEEKS BEGINNING ON OR ABOUT OCTOBER 15:

THE WESTBOUND DEDICATED RIGHT TURN LANE ON JONES BRIDGE ROAD TO NORTHBOUND ROCKVILLE PIKE WILL BE CLOSED 24/7 FOR APPROXIMATELY 5-6 WEEKS, WEATHER AND WORK CONDITIONS PERMITTING.

This construction will improve pedestrian and vehicular safety by replacing the existing non-signalized dedicated right turn lane onto northbound Rockville Pike with a right turn lane controlled by a dedicated signal.
