National Bike Month

Did you know that May is National Bike Month?

In addition to Bike to Work Day, there are several events that are held around the region in May:

Bike to School Day
Bike to Work Day for the younger set, Bike to School Day is organized by the National Center for Safe Routes to School. After you've biked with your child to his or her school, stay on your bike for your commute to work! Click here for more information.

Breakfast on the Capital Crescent Trail
Each year prior to Bike to Work Day, BTS sets up on the Capital Crescent Trail at the rest area near the head of the trail by Bethesda Avenue. We give away free coffee and bike information!

If you want to bike to work, but are not sure you're in shape for it, try this recreational ride the weekend before Bike to Work Day! Click here for more information.

Pre-Bike to Work Day Events in Veteran's Park
In the weeks leading up to Bike to Work Day, BTS sets up a table in Bethesda's Veteran's Park, at Norfolk and Woodmont Avenues. We are on hand to answer your questions about the best ways to get to and from work via bicycle.

National Bike Challenge
The National Bike Challenge is a free program with the goal of encouraging people to bike for both transportation and recreation. Much like the BTS Walk & Ride Challenge, participants in the National Bike Challenge form teams and try to log the most mileage to win great prizes. Bike Challenge teams can have a maximum of ten participants each. Miles are logged either through Strava, MapMyFitness, or Endomondo.
