Bethesda Bicycle Spirit Award

In conjunction with the regional Bike to Work Day, Bethesda Transportation Solutions sponsors the Bicycle Commuter Spirit Awards. The awards recognize downtown Bethesda employees who are dedicated to biking to work.

Each year we ask for your help in finding two commuters devoted to two-wheeled bicycled transportation. The first award is for the Most Committed Bicycle Commuter, an employee who bikes to work on a consistent basis. The second award is for the Longest Distance Commuted by Bicycle - for that dedicated bike commuter who goes the distance!

2011 Winners

Cristofer Price, Most Committed Cyclist

Cristofer Price has worked at Abt Associates in Bethesda for 15 years and has been commuting by bike from Arlington to Bethesda for the last 14 years. He rides the Capital Crescent Trail to work every work day, all year around except for the days when there is too much ice or snow on the trail. He says that he met friends George and Diane and Peter (who commute towards DC) at a Bethesda Bike to Work Day several years ago and has done some challenging weekend rides with them in the years since. They even planned a century ride together for the day after Bike to Work Day.

Bruce Kraselsky, Longest Distance Commuted by Bike

Bruce Kraselsky is a “reformed attorney” turned “serial entrepreneur.” His latest venture is Space Partnership International, a management consulting firm that provides business development, financing, regulatory and risk management services to aerospace, telecom and IT companies worldwide. Bruce rides his bike to his office at Carr Workplaces in Bethesda from his home in Oakton, Virginia, about 24.5 miles each way. He takes the W&OD, Custis and Capital Crescent trails to avoid crazy drivers on the streets. As a favor to his co-workers, he stops off at the Washington Sports Club for a shower as part of the routine.
