Is your company making it easy for you to get to work? Does your employer know that they could be eligible to receive up to $270,000 in transit benefits for you and your coworkers during the next nine years! The Super Fare Share program makes participation easy and encourages commuters to take transit to work. Your employer will get rewarded with improved recruiting and retention, while you help reduce traffic congestion and pollution. In addition, your company may be eligible to receive a federal tax credit and/or a 50% tax credit under the Maryland Commuter Tax Credit for your participation!

ELIGIBILITY
Super Fare Share is open to any private or public employer of any size located within the boundaries of Montgomery County's Transportation Management Districts (TMDs): Bethesda, North Bethesda, Friendship Heights and Silver Spring.
HOW IT WORKS
YEAR 1: Super Fare Share will subsidize up to $114 of an employee's monthly commute costs. The employer contribution is only $1 per employee per month, providing a tax-free maximum benefit of $115 per month. The employer distributes up to $115.00 in SmartBenefits and/or Ride On passes - "for free" - to its transit-using employees.
YEARS 2-5: Super Fare Share will match an employer's contribution toward an employee's commute costs, up to $55.00, for a maximum tax-free employee benefit of $115 per month. You will then distribute up to $115 in SmartBenefits and/or Ride On passes to each transit-using employee.
YEARS 6-9: The County will match the employer contribution on a sliding scale basis. By year nine, the employer picks up 90% of the costs, while the County is responsible for 10%; while still providing a tax-free maximum benefit of $115 per month. |

| SmartBenefits is a web-based program that lets employers load the dollar value of an employee's Metrochek commuter benefit directly on his or her SmarTrip card for use on Metrorail. Employees take their permanent, plastic, electronic SmarTrip card to any Metro station's Passes/Farecards machine between the first and last day of the benefit month and claim their benefit. The SmarTrip card costs $5 and can be registered with a unique serial number at the time of purchase to protect against loss. |
